Future Plans Expansion of the coverage area The completion of the Ayalon Highway as a freeway along its entire length will be accompanied by expansion of the control system to provide full coverage. The infrastructure for the system is inserted during the paving works, enabling easy and low cost system expansion. Adding traffic and other signs The system of signs will be extended to include the stationing of electronic signs on access roads to the Ayalon Highway, to help drivers decide whether to use it or to take another route. Developing a system for estimating journey times A special system will receive data streaming in from detectors on the Highway, compute journey times to various interchanges, and display the information on electronic signs along the way. Similar systems abroad have been well received by drivers. Extending the use of speed controls In future, the function of speed signs will be extended to "smoothing traffic", to aid optimal utilization of the Highway and improve road safety. Dissemination of Information Traffic reports will be disseminated to the public in many ways, including web services and email, television, and cellular phones.
